Ok been trying to find a good battery(s) to buy. Just yesterday bought a Slash and test drove it a few times. The stock battary that came with it is ok, but seems to go out after 15minutes. I would like to be able to take the kids and myself of course and race on the track. Mostly would be practice and would like to get longer run times. Money is a huge factor.

After looking at pages and pages of information my head is spinning on the best brand for run time/performance/cost. What to you guys run use for practice time and then race time.

The venom 5000 mah 7.4 Roger has are great for that truck and should get 15-25 of runtime depending on gearing. If you want more runtime you will need a higher mah on the battery but the cost goes way up. I have a Maxamps 6500mah 7.4 and I get 30 minutes but battery was $130 while the Venoms can be had for $50. Plus watch motor temps as running that long its easy to overheat the engine (180F max sustained). Want good battery for cheap go with Venoms want more runtime and a little more punch go with a higher mah and C rating but they cost$$$$$$$$

Of course if you want to go LiPo then you will also need a good charger and balancer . It can get a little pricey but the LiPo will treat you much better than a NiMh pack will. By far worth the investment in the long run. You may as well go ahead and think abuot getting to venoms an Onyx 230 Charger and a blinky balancer. Venom has the 5400mah batteries for like 60 or 70. Very nice assortment now for LiPo batteries. If you want to stay cheap you might want to check out HobbyKing.com. The zippy packs have worked great for me. Bought two last year and have used them on a regular basis with no problems. Its unfortunate that my son left one under the stand at the last race. Oh well, got good use out of a $20 4000mah LiPo.
